Heinrich “Henry” Remer, 92 a long time resident and farmer in the Lawton, ND area was carried to heaven in Jesus’ arms on Sunday evening, April 26, 2015. He passed away at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Henry will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Timothy Stout officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Heinrich, son of Paul and Elizabeth (Seeger) Remer was born on January 20, 1923 at Wolgast, East Germany where he was raised and educated. In 1955, Henry came to the United States and began farming with his uncle Fritz Seeger in the Lawton area and Henry would continue to farm until his death. Henry was united in marriage to Anneliese Weber on November 15, 1957 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. They would live, farm side by side and raise their family through the years on the farm at Lawton. They would share over 57 years of love and marriage. Henry is survived by his wife Anneliese; daughter Elsa Remer and her husband Arden Freitag of Bismarck, ND and son Fritz Remer of Lawton. His sister Käthe Schneider of Wolgast, Germany also survives. Serving as Casket Bearers for Henry will be Joe Zahradka, Roger Burt, Roger Perkuhn, David Nienhuis, Brad Larson and Harley Eidness. Music will be congregational hymns, special recordings chosen by family and Mavis Blake, organist. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Günthar Remer and half-sisters Irmgard and Lötchen.
