Randy Calvin Denne Sr., 58 of St. Michael, ND passed to the Spirit World on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home with his loving children beside him.
The Wake for Randy will be held at his rural St. Michael home on Friday, May 8th beginning at 5:30 p.m. A Native American Funeral Service will be held at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural St. Michael on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Zachary Thompson officiating.
All Drum Groups and Singers are invited to share their music in memory of Randy.
Randy was born in Fargo, ND on May 31, 1956 to Lena and Aloysius Denne. He attended school in Fargo and Warwick, ND. As a young boy, Randy loved to ride horse and danced Grass Dance.
Randy met his number one, Sheila Thompson and they made their home in St. Michael with their 8 children.
Randy’s passion was working on vehicles and hunting. Dad brought home a deer every time he went out.
Randy worked many years with the housing-did various contract jobs and also worked in Minnesota for a time. Randy’s hard working hands have built many of the homes here on the reservation and surrounding areas.
Randy also helped to build the IHS Center, Candeska Cikiana Community College and McDonalds Restaurant. Randy was well known far and wide for his skills as a sheetrocker and carpenter. As the years passed and his health made him weak, Randy enjoyed sitting at home in the company of his family and friends.
Randy is survived by his loving family. His sons Robert (Kristi) Thompson and Randy Denne Jr. all of St.Michael; daughters Lovella Thompson, Mary (Joe) Azure, Melissa Denne, Doris Denne and Candace (Dan) Denne all of St. Michael; grandchildren Tylin, Mercedes, Meranda, Baby Kojak, Krista, Kristen, Paul, Rissa, Wesley, John, Randall, Kendra, Kenzie, Joe, Grace, Moe, Michael, Weylin, Nathaniel, Joshua, Alex, Alexis, Aschell, Arthur, Damion, Lena, Jenny, Grantly, Grailey, Jamie, Dakotah, and his special little cowboy, Dayshawn; brothers Ambrose (Carol) Little Bear, Frank Lovejoy and Ben Lovejoy; nephews Calvin Dean and Terry Dunn; many great grandchildren and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother Francis Rattling Tail; sisters Baby Girl and Sister Girl; sons Paul Thompson and a set of twin boys.
