Dorothy Lou Luehring, 77 a resident of Devils Lake, formerly of Grand Forks and Lakota, ND died early Sunday morning, May 10, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake. Dorothy was born on March 21, 1938 in Pekin, ND, the daughter of Emil and Irene (LaPoint) Morken. She was raised and educated in Pekin and graduated from Pekin High School with the class of 1956. She continued her education at Aaker’s Business College and received Secretarial credentials. Dorothy Lou married Wayne Allen Luehring on December 28, 1958 at Pekin. They established their home in Grand Forks and Dorothy operated a Day Care Center out of her home for many years and also worked for several years at a local dry cleaners. In 1974, the family moved to Lakota, ND where Dorothy worked at the Lakota Dry Cleaners, later becoming the owner and operator. After selling the business in 1992, she continued working at dry cleaners in Devils Lake. After Wayne’s death on July 2, 2013, Dorothy moved to Devils Lake and was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center until the time of her death. Dorothy was a member of the Lakota Lutheran Church. We will miss our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend as she goes home to her Lord and Savior. We love you with all our heart. Dorothy is survived by her loving family. Her daughter Joy and husband Tom Townson of Devils Lake; son Randy Luehring and his wife Julie of Grand Forks; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Lois Orwick, Michigan, ND; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Howard and Marlene Luehring, Edgar Luehring all of Tolna, ND and Maxine Luehring, St. Paul, MN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; sister Donna Franzen and brother Eugene Morken. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Tedd Rieke officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Online register book at www.gilbertsonfuneralhome.com
