Raymond Lee was born on July 26, 1945 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Leonard and Eldora (Armstrong) Jemtrud. He lived his entire life in the Devils Lake area. Ray attended Devils Lake Public School and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 1963. Ray worked at Riggin Motors for a time then began a 32 year career with Interstate Brands Corporation (IBC). As the “Sweetheart Man”, Ray delivered Sweetheart Bakery goods to many local towns, grocery stores and schools including Devils Lake, Warwick, Fort Totten, Lakota and others throughout the Lake Region area. Ray married Beverly Johnson on June 9, 1967 at Leeds, ND and they were the proud parents of two beautiful children, Paul and Melissa. In his younger years, Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing. He made many trips to Colorado for just that reason and was also able to make a few trips to Alaska. The Alaska trips were guided by his close nephew, Gary Gray who owned Alsek River Lodge in Yakutat, Alaska. He was a member of the Lake Region Archery Club so hunting outings also included bow hunting. After retiring, Ray enjoyed playing solitaire, sitting in his deer stand watching the deer, listening to Rush Limbaugh and cruising in one of his two Corvettes. He always considered time spent with his daughter and granddaughters as his most precious. Ray is survived by his loving family. His daughter Melissa Buckmier of Devils Lake; granddaughters Alexis Buckmier, Devils Lake and Jamie Buckmier of Bismarck; brothers and sisters-in-law Eldon and Sue Jemtrud, Albany, California, Marvin and Lois Jemtrud, Larimore, ND and Leonard “Lenny” and Ramona Jemtrud also of Devils Lake; many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Paul Ray Jemtrud; brothers Howard, Kenneth and Ole Jemtrud and sister Mildred Gray.
