Phyllis J. Lauckner

Phyllis J. (Alwin) Lauckner, 69 of Devils Lake formerly of Lakota, ND passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Services for Phyllis will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating. Burial will be at the Lakota Cemetery, on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral service. Phyllis Jean, daughter of Harold and Rose (Meidl) Alwin was born on December 11, 1945 at Lakota, ND. She was reared on the family farm and attended Lakota Public School. She worked as a Nurses’ Aide at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake. Phyllis married Richard Lauckner on October 12, 1963 at St. Olaf Church in Devils Lake. They moved to Fargo for a short time and Phyllis worked as a waitress in a local restaurant. They returned to Devils Lake and lived, worked and raised their family here. She worked at Lake Region Corporation for several years then began a long career in sales. For a number of years, she worked in sales at KDLR/KVLR/KZZY and continued in sales at Midcontinent Cable TV for many years, retiring in 2008. After retiring, she returned to the Alwin family homestead, rural Lakota and made it her home but due to increasing health concerns, she moved to Devils Lake in 2014. Phyllis loved the outdoors and beauty of nature; enjoying gardening, bird watching and bird feeding, taking photos and as an animal lover, taking care of her “kitties”. In her younger years, she spent many hours refinishing and refurbishing furniture. Keeping up to date with family and her many friends meant daily phone calls to them all. Phyllis leaves behind her beloved family. Her children Scott Lauckner, Colorado Springs, CO, Rob (Jill) Lauckner, Des Moines, IW and Sheri Lauckner, Devils Lake; grandchildren Alexis, Sam, Jesse and Bo Lauckner; brothers LeRoy (Coke) Alwin, Waukesha, WI and Dale Alwin, Fargo, ND and sister Jan Riley, Grand Forks, ND; faithful companion Snowball and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Marvin and Delbert Alwin and infant sister Lois.
