Joanne M. (Allery) Monette

JoAnne M. Monette, 59 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Sunday morning, July 19, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake today from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Joanne Marcella was born September 6, 1955 to Ruth (Folstad) and Leo Allery. She grew up in the Woodlake, North Dakota area, attending school at Little Flower Mission School in St. Michael, ND, graduating from Warwick High School with the class of 1973. Joanne attended the University of North Dakota for a period of time, before marrying Robert Monette on August 19. 1978. They began their family with the birth of Jackie in 1977; living for periods of time in the Twin Cities area, Grand Forks and Fargo before settling and establishing their home in Devils Lake. Bob passed away September 5, 2014. Joanne devoted her life to raising her children; always having sweet homemade treats ready after school and reading a book to the kids each night. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, beading and rummaging. Her creative talent and gentle nature will be greatly missed. Joanne is survived by five children and 2 granddaughters Jackie Meier (Amanda and Briana), Aaron Monette, Jeffrey Monette, Jessica Monette, Sarah Monette; Robert’s children Paulette Baukol, Tiffani Peterson, Craig Monette and their families; brothers Gene (Rene) Allery and Jerry (Rhonda) Allery; sisters Mary Ann Allery, Ruth Ann Allery, Annette Allery and Diane Shanley and a large extended family including nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; son baby boy Monette and brother Leo Allery Jr. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Aaron Monette, Jeff Monette, Gene Allery, Jerry Allery, Mary Ann Allery and Annette Allery.
