JoAnn M. Lee, 61 of rural Devils Lake, ND passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her son’s home in Mead, Colorado in the loving care of family.
Mass of the Resurrection for JoAnn will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Fr. King celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, July 23rd beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
JoAnn Marie, daughter of Jack M. and Katherine (Bachmeier) Schiele was born on August 7, 1953 at Devils Lake, ND. She grew up on a farm in Noonan Township. She attended Crary Public School and graduated with the class of 1971 from Crary High School. While in high school she participated in several school activities including girls’ basketball.
JoAnn was united in marriage to Robert J. Lee on July 10, 1976 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, rural Crary where they established their home and made a beautiful life together and raised their children through the years.
JoAnn worked at Haverlock Furniture City and Hardware for a few years and then in October of 1977, she began working at Home of Economy and was a dedicated, hard-working employee for over 37 years until her death.
The role of a devoted wife and loving Mother was JoAnn’s priority but she also enjoyed boating on local lakes, Sprint Car Racing and travelling to visit family and friends. Spending time with her grandchildren was very precious to her.
JoAnn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Patricia Circle.
JoAnn’s life with us was much too short, but she will be in our thoughts and memories forever.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert ; sons Jason (Heather) Lee and their children Aiden, Abby and Ailyn of Britton, SD, Jeff Lee of West Fargo, ND, Jesse (Ashley) Lee and their children Brayden and Peyton of Mead, Colorado and Jeremy (Amanda) Lee of Indianapolis, IN; brother Dennis (Cindy) Schiele and sister Jolene (Jerry) Kostecki; mother-in-law Ilene Lee; sister-in-law Michelle Lee all of Devils Lake; nieces and nephews Jackie Kostecki, JaCinda Azure, Heather Johnson, Jacob Kostecki and Tyler Schiele; six great nieces and great nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Rodney Lee.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Jack Volk, Scott Volk, Jared Johnson, Taylor Azure, Jacob Kostecki and Mason Kostecki. Reading the Scriptures will be Rita Volk and Gift Bearers will be Jason, Jeff, Jesse and Jeremy.
