Linda L. Hanson

Linda LaVonne (Krom-Taylor) Hanson, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away on August 10th in her home as she requested, surrounded by family and friends, her flowers, and her pets. The daughter of Doris (Thorstad), she was also raised in part by her grandparents, Mauritz and Signe Thorstad, her adoptive father, George Krom, and on his passing, her dad, Carlin "Corky" Taylor, all of whom preceded her in death. Linda was a master crafter and avid gardener who held many jobs, including helping special needs kids learn job skills as part of the Devils Lake school system, and before that owning and operating Bristlecone Kennels in Ely, NV, but her main concern throughout her life was in being a mother. She was so successful in this endeavor that many in her great circle of friends, young and old, called her "Mother," and her own children called her "Mombo" -- the Rambo version of all moms. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, (Hilmer) Kenneth Hanson; all her children: K.C. (Nancy) Hanson of Moorhead, MN, Marti (Mike) Bingham of Buffalo, WY, Janna Hanson of Dickinson, ND, and Ross (Amy) Hanson of Fort Benton, MT; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; all her siblings: Georgette Barney of Fernley, NV, Barb Collier of Fernley, NV, and Jeff Taylor of Milbank, SD; several half-siblings, including Susan Peterson of Larimore, ND; and a whole host of cousins and nieces and nephews she treated as her own. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16th, from 4:00 - 7:00 at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17th, at 10:30 in Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. She will be interred on the Hanson Family Plot in the Devils Lake cemetery with her lifelong friend, Dakota. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Linda's name to the Hope Lodge in Rochester, MN, or Circle of Friends Humane Society in Grand Forks, ND.
