Linda M. Rude

Linda M. Rude, 70 of Lakota, ND formerly of Alexander and Hamar, ND passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Linda will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Hamar, ND with Reverend John Monson officiating. Burial will be in the Sigdal Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Time of Sharing at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Linda Marie, daughter of James and Sylvia (Olson) Neer was born on March 7, 1945 at Williston, ND. She grew up and was educated in Alexander, ND and graduated from Alexander High School with the class of 1963. She then began working at the Bethel Home in Williston. Linda was united in marriage to Larry Rude on November 29, 1968 at Tolna, ND. They lived for a time in New Rockford and then in Alexander and Linda returned to employment at the Bethel Home. They moved to Montana and settled in Sidney, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Schwan’s Ice Cream. Alexander called to them again and they owned and operated a service station there for several years. They moved to Hamar area of North Dakota and Linda continued her work as a dedicated care giver at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, Odd Fellows, Heartland Care Center and with REM all in Devils Lake, retiring due to health problems. For the past several years, Linda and Larry have made Lakota their home. Linda was a loved her grandchildren and especially being able to care for them in her home and was very involved in all of their activities. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and just time all of their special times together. Linda had a passion for quilting and every family member and friends was the grateful recipient of one or more of her creations. We will miss with all of our hearts this beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Linda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry; children Cary Rude, Larry “Lars” (Amber) Rude Jr. and Jackelyn “Tilly” (Chris) Clemenson all of Devils Lake; grandchildren Devlin Rude, Courtney Ryan, Collin Rude and Chloe Rude; and great granddaughter, Avery; sisters Bonnie Cluchie, Watford City, ND and Cora (Alvin) Jenema, Falmouth, MI; brothers Art (Carol) Neer, Bismarck, Kenny (Freda) Neer, Sheridan, WY, Rod Neer, Watford City, ND and Roy (Vicki) Neer , Williston; numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Veronica Rude; in-laws Alvin and Pearl Rude; sister-in-law Susan Neer and brother-in-law Lyle Neer.
