Robert Lee Brown Sr.

Robert L. Brown Sr., 59 of Tokio, ND passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake with beloved family and friends at his side. A Wake for Robert will be held at St. Michael’s Wellness Center, St. Michael on Tuesday, September 15th beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of Prayer and remembrance at 8:00 p.m. with Father Paul Schuster officiating. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, from the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Native American Cemetery, rural St. Michael. Robert Lee was born on April 6, 1956 at home, the son of the late Patrick and Viola (Mallard) Brown. He was raised in the St. Michael and Tokio areas and lived in Cannon Ball, ND for a few years. Robert attended Little Flower School in St. Michael and Minnewaukan Public School. He worked at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation, Dakota Tribal Industries, on road construction and drove bus for the Senior Meals Program. Bob enjoyed working on cars, cooking for family and friends and making his famous fry bread. He would also lend a helping hand when needed and always had something good to say. Bob enjoyed playing the slot machines. Bob’s loving family include his sons: Kevin J. Brown Sr., beloved and not for forgotten, Alvin H. Brown Sr., Robert L. Brown Jr., Billy Brown and Alan Brown; adopted son Elvis DeMarce; daughter Melody Brown; special grandson Jamesin “J-Man” Brown and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; sister Becky Brown; adopted brother Louie Chaske; aunt Violet Smith. Casket Bearers will be Jesse Cavanaugh Jr., Robert Brown Jr., Bobby J. Brown, Alan Brown, Terry Yellowhammer, Elvis DeMarce, Waylon Smith and Michelle Hale. Escorts, grandsons Kevin Brown Jr. and Keegan Thompson. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Viola Brown; son Alvin H. Brown Sr.; granddaughter Talayah Brown; niece Desi Brown; maternal grandparents Henry Brown, Winifred and Sam Cloud; paternal grandparents Raymond Mallard, Ida Poorbear and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
