Loucia Roseann Meade, 49 of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with loving family at her side.
A Wake for Loucia will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Fort Totten Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on TUESDAY at 4:00 p.m. from the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church on Fort Totten with Father Charles Leute O.P. celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
Loucia Roseann, daughter of Benedict Meade and Mary Margaret Garfield was born on September 26, 1965 at Devils Lake, ND. She lived on the Spirit Lake Nation and attended local schools. As a young woman, she moved to Minneapolis and lived there for 4 years. In 1988 she returned to the St. Michael, ND area and lived and worked there the remainder of her life.
She worked at Four Winds High School for several years and most recently had worked at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort.
In her younger years, Loucia loved horseback riding. She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing Yahtzee, card games and sharing good conversation and precious time together.
Loucia is survived by her mother Mary Margaret Garfield; daughters Melanie Meade, Ashley Meade, Shanna Meade and Julia Robertson; sons Jeremy Meade, Jared Meade, Logan Robertson and Lucas Robertson; grandchildren Shayleigh, Leighshay, Nadysen, Nayonna, Kayleigh, Saree, Keyosha, Jeremiah, Asher, Julian, Kale, Jaymus, Cedar Rose, Malik, Chael, Lorraine and Gianna; her companion of 25 years Marty Robertson; sisters Josie WhiteFeather, Lucy Meade, Nancy Meade and Cecille Garfield; brothers Michael Meade and Ricky Garfield; several aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Benedict; aunts Betty PoorBear and Cynthia PoorBear; nephew Michael Meade.
Casket Bearers for Loucia will be her sons Jeremy and Jared Meade and Logan and Lucus Robertson, Candace Downwind, Frank Downwind and Saree Meade.
