Bradley V. Johansen, 65 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer. Bradley was born in Rugby, ND on October 27, 1949 to Arnold and Florence (Sander) Johansen. He lived his early childhood years on the family farm near Maddock and in Esmond. As a child he loved roller skating, archery and riding his Dad’s horse, Tony. He moved with his family many times as a child and attended schools in Maddock, Esmond, Pembina and Lakota, North Dakota as well as schools in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kimball, Nebraska and Conrad and Libby, Montana. Brad graduated from Libby High in 1969. He continued his education at the University of Montana at Missoula from 1969 to 1970 where he earned a certificate in welding. In those early years, Brad developed a lifelong love of fishing. He loved to fish at The Bynum Lake Reservoir and Fisher River in Montana. He moved back to North Dakota in 1972 where he remained for the rest of his life. He worked as a security guard in Nekoma, ND until the missile site was decommissioned. He then worked at Brunswick Manufacturing for many years before working in security at the Spirit Lake Casino for 19 years, where he was employed at the time of his death. Bradley maintained his lifelong love of fishing and participated in many tournaments over the years. But he mainly loved his family. Having no children of his own he took on the role of surrogate father to his younger brothers and sister upon the death of their father in 1971. Bradley is survived by his loving family.
