Marie E. Ripplinger, 95 of Devils Lake, North Dakota passed away Tuesday morning, November 10, 2015 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be held in the Devils Lake Cemetery, Devils Lake.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Marie Ripplinger was born December 8, 1919 in Selz, North Dakota to Casper and Eva (Weigel) Gisi. She married John C. Ripplinger on September 30, 1940 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Selz, North Dakota. In 1941, they stared farming by Round Lake near Silva, North Dakota. Then in 1943 they moved to the Harlow area and farmed there until retiring in 1974. For many years Marie was active at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Leeds, ND as a Sunday school teacher and as a member and President of their Altar Society. In addition, she served on the parish Board as secretary. In 1990, they moved to Devils Lake. John died in 1993.
Marie’s hobbies included cooking, gardening, embroidering and fishing. During their retirement, Marie and John spent winters in Arizona and New Mexico. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her son Donald (Connie) Ripplinger of Devils Lake; daughter-in-law Diane Ripplinger, Harlow, ND; grandchildren Robin (Lynn) Arnold, Esmond, ND; Susan (Jeff) Hawn, Harlow, ND; Faye (Ed) Nystrom, New Rockford, ND; Amanda (Derrick) Johnson, Minnewaukan, ND; Gary (Lisa Pederson) Ripplinger; Mapleton, ND and David (Traci Stave) Ripplinger, West Fargo, ND; thirteen great grandchildren Jacob and Andrea Arnold; Zachary and Jessica Johnson; Savana, Allysa, and Justin Nystrom; Evan and Erin Ripplinger; Katherine, Thomas, Michael, and Theresa “Tess” Ripplinger; one great great grandson Bently Nystrom; sister Angeline Struve, Bremerton, WA and brother Leonard (Kathy) Gisi; Port Orchard, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; son Edward; sisters Caroline Nelson, Lynn Kirchner; brother Albert; and brothers-in-law Henry Nelson, Victor Kirchner and Elton Struve.
Casket Bearers will be Marie’s grandchildren Robin Arnold, Susan Hawn, Faye Nystrom, Amanda Johnson, Gary Ripplinger and David Ripplinger. Gift Bearers will be great grandchildren Jacob and Andrea Arnold and Katie and Tommy Ripplinger. Reading the Scriptures will be Susan Hawn and Gary Ripplinger. Music will be provided by Pete Hager and JoDee Lagein.
