DELORIS A DINGER

Deloris Ardelle Dinger, 79, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 9, 2016 at home with her loving husband Dale by her side. Funeral services for Deloris will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Burial will be after the service at the Devils Lake Cemetery with fellowship and a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be at Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14 from 3:00 PM until 6:00PM. Deloris was born in Wheaton, MN on June 6, 1936. She was the second of 6 children born to Marvin and Mary Peterson. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Rosholt, SD area until high school. Deloris often talked of how she and her siblings traveled to school by horse and buggy or by tractor on stormy winter days. She and her family lived a chicken shed one winter while Marvin built the family home. She worked hard as a farm girl and carried that work ethic throughout her life. She loved her rural farming roots and enjoyed her visits in Rosholt where her siblings lived. As a young woman she went to an agricultural boarding school in Morris, MN. Deloris attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN. Her career as a caring registered nurse touched many lives. Dale and Deloris (Rusty) were high school sweethearts and were married on June 21, 1958 in St. Joseph’s church near Rosholt, SD. They lived in Minneapolis and Dickinson, and moved to Devils Lake in 1974. They raised three children, Randy, Paul, and Beth. She enjoyed camping in Western North Dakota, cross-country skiing, and walking miles along Devils Lake and local pathways. Her hobbies over the years included knitting, sewing, reading, bridge, and baking desserts. She loved her Dale and family dearly. Deloris retired from nursing in 1993 after an accident in the Lakewood area. Her resilience helped her through a difficult rehabilitation period and enabled her to enjoy her retirement years with Dale. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran in Devils Lake, ND and spent many years in the choir and attending circle. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Lake Region Skating Club, and the Devils Lake Country Club. She is survived by her husband Dale of 57 years; children, Randy (Shellie) Dinger, Boise, ID; Paul (Laura) Dinger, Newcastle, WA; and Beth (Ryan) Wilhelmi, Stanley, ND. Seven grandchildren, Karin (Adrian) Gasparotti, Walla Walla, WA; Justin (Rachael) Dinger, Ft. Collins, CO; Madison Dinger, Tumwater, WA; Bryce Dinger, Newcastle, WA; Jack, Katie, and Griffin Wilhelmi, Stanley, ND;three great-grandchildren, Leonardo Gasparotti, Gaius Buckley, and Evelyn Dinger; siblings, Marlys (Herb) Heesch, Gary Peterson, Dale (Donna) Peterson, and Joann (Wayne) Pastorious, and many nieces and nephews.
