Damion M. Volk, 42 of McClusky formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND.
There will be visitation at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND on Friday, January 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Damion will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery in the spring.
Casket Bearers for Damion will be Luke LaCroix, Michael LaCroix, Brian Alberts, Darwin Brown, Waylon Smith and Lonnie Smith. Honorary Bearers will be Ella Jane Brown, Roger Brown, Amy Brown and family, Holly Brown and family, Starr Hunt and family, Kara Hunt, Carrie Smith and family, Michelle Smith and family, Rhonda Smith and family, Billie Jo Smith and family, Jeanette Seaboy and family, Yolanda Seaboy and family, Luke LaCroix and family, Michael LaCroix and family, Waylon Smith and family, Lonnie Smith and family, Amanda Smith and family, Candice Smith and family, Laurie Smith and family and Laura Smith.
Damion Mark Volk was born on May 4, 1973 in Devils Lake, ND. He was the son of Rita Smith. He grew up in Devils Lake with his mother and adoptive father, James Volk. He attended St. Mary’s Academy and Devils Lake High School.
Damion was a prep cook and dishwasher in restaurants in Devils Lake and Grand Forks. In Grand Forks, Damion met his girlfriend, Lisa LeBlanc. They lived in Grand Forks and Grafton before moving to McClusky in 2013. Their relationship spanned almost 13 years.
Damion enjoyed listening to music, watching the “Price Is Right”, reading and playing Yahtzee. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Uncle Leonard Dumarce. He liked to take Deanna LeBlanc’s dog, “Murphy” on daily walks. Damion was especially close to Myron Morris and Lisa’s mother Deanna LeBlac. Damion would call Deanna “Mom”.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rita Smith; a brother in infancy and his sister Cynthia Renae Volk; maternal grandparents Simon and Sarah (Young) Smith; uncles Michael Smith Sr., Gabriel Smith Sr., Leonard Dumarce and Joseph Smith Sr.; aunts Florine Smith and Cynthia Smith; cousins Leonard LaCroix, Melissa Smith and James Hook.
