Frances B. (Santavy) Olderbak

Frances Beatrice (Santavy) Olderbak was bornon October 1, 1930 in Chicago, Ilinois and passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her daughter’s home, rural Devils Lake surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born to Frank and Antoinette (Mokros) Santavy. When Frances was 2 the family moved to Czechoslovakia, then returned to Chicago in 1939 at the start of the war. She attended schools in Chicago and after moving to Lawton, ND in her teenage years, she attended Park River High School. Frances married John Olderbak on November 8, 1948 at St. Catherine’s of Lomice Catholic Church, rural Lawton. They farmed in the Lawton area, where Frances was a key member of the operation until retiring in 1989 and moving to Devils Lake. They raised four children, whom Frances called her “Fabulous Four” in her later years. Frances’s precious family include her husband John; children Judy (David) Danielson, Devils Lake, Michael (Peggy) Olderbak, Rockford, IL, Barbara (Mark) Dordahl, Bismarck, ND and Susan (Troy) Nelsen, Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marie. A Celebration of Frances’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND with family present to receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
