FLORENCE M. HESSER

Florence M. Hesser, 95 of Devils Lake formerly of Churchs Ferry, ND died on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Florence Matilda, daughter of Bruce and Mathilda (Barenscher) Hesser was born on February 12, 1920 at Churchs Ferry, ND. At the age 5, the family moved to Devils Lake and Florence would call it home until her death. Florence’s father passed away when Florence was very young and her mother married Lee Hannon and he was a loving step-father to Florence through the years. Florence attended Devils Lake elementary schools and graduated from Devils Lake Central High with the class of 1939. In 1942, Florence began employment with Montgomery Ward Store and was the Inventory Control Supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 1977. Florence was a dedicated, faithful employee and an example to her co-workers. Florence is survived by her brothers Clarence Hesser, St. Augustine, FL and James Hannon and his wife Rose Kurtz-Hannon of New Hope, MN; nephew and nieces Scott (Pam) Hannon, Lynn (Rick) Elsen, Judy (Tedd) Uden and Nancy (Adam) Zopfi; great nieces and nephews Zoe, Taylor, Shane, Danielle, Kari and Kristy. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father. A Celebration of Florence’s life will be held at a later date.
