Nona M. Martz of Devils Lake, ND died on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home at Mayville, ND under the loving care of all the staff there and loving care of Hospice.
Nona Mae, the daughter of Martha (Tinglestad) and Arthur Jacobsen was born on July 16, 1933. The Jacobsen family lived on the family farm at rural Rock Lake. Nona attended elementary and high school in Rock Lake.
Nona was united in marriage to Dale Martz on October 29, 1950 and they lived on the family farm, near Calvin until their retirement in 1989 when they moved to the lake house on Creel Bay, Devils Lake.
Nona worked very hard and always did her best doing many of the jobs required on the farm; including milking cows, hauling grain during harvest, growing a large a garden and taking care of her sons. Nona was an excellent cook. When she could find time, she loved to sing, play piano and organ and sew.
Nona was an active member of All Nation’s Church and St. Olaf Church and their WELCA’S.
Nona believed in God and family.
Nona is survived by her five sons. Daryl and his wife Linda, Littleton, CO, Larry and his wife Elaine, Portland, ND, twins Rick of Grand Forks and Randy of Rolla, ND and David of Devils Lake; sisters Alice Lamkin, California and Joyce McDowell, Moorhead, MN; brothers Carl (Marlys) Jacobsen and Jim (Eileen) Jacobsen all of Rock Lake, ND; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Arthur and husband Dale on June 5, 2013.
The family requests all memorials be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice. Thank you from our family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in All Nation’s Cemetery, rural Rock Lake, ND.
