Charles Andrew, son of Math and Lorraine (Weisz) Korb was born on November 4, 1939 in Towner County, Cando, ND. He grew up and was educated in the Calio, area. On January 21, 1958, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army and served his country overseas in Germany. He earned his GED in 1960 and was honorably discharged on December 31, 1963 with the rank of Specialist 4. He was married to Vickie Robertson and they were the proud parents of two children. Lincoln, NE was Charlie’s home until 1983. While living there one of his passions was stock car racing, this was quite natural as Charlie had a great love for cars and working on them. Charlie owned, operated and was President of Lincoln Ornamental Iron Works. His work is displayed throughout Lincoln and surrounding communities. Every day there is a wheat sculpture at the mall that is admired. There is a spiral staircase in a prominent building and a pedestrian bridge over a busy highway that is used. These are just a few examples of the skill of his talent as a welder. Charlie was united in marriage to Joan Wentz on August 12, 1989 in Devils Lake. They lived for a time in Lake Bronson, MN where they owned and operated the Lake Bronson Motel, until retiring in 1994. They then moved to Devils Lake, lived on a farmstead 7 miles East of Devils Lake where they lived a wonderful life together close to family and friends, and recently moving into Devils Lake. While living in Devils Lake, Charles worked for Quality Welding for a few years and then went to work for Joe Kraft at Lake Ready Mix, until he retired in 2005. Charles was a man of many trades and talents. In his younger years, as a licensed pilot, he enjoyed many airplane adventures. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his flowers and along with flower gardens, he and Joan also tended two large produce gardens. He so enjoyed the wild animals that country living brought to his back yard. Charles is survived by his wife, Joan; children Lori Ann (Bill) Johnson, Milford, NE, Darren C. Korb, Omaha, NE, James R. (Mary) Skadsem, Donald D. (Jody) Skadsem and Lisa M. (Joey) Hermanson all of Devils Lake; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren ; brothers Roger (Deb) Korb and Glen Korb (special friend Marge Christianson) all of Devils Lake and sister Kathy (Kim) Connole, Minot, ND; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-la w and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Curtis Korb. Casket Bearers will be Drew Schill, Darren Reineke, Gavin Graff, Robert Skadsem, Butch Korb and Alex Moen. Reading the Scriptures will be Courtney Skadsem and gift bearers will be Allyson and Breden Hermanson and Kaytlin and Colton Skadsem. Music will be provided by Jackie Klein and Patty Cote.
