George P. Cavanaugh, 73 of St. Michael, ND passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
A Wake for George will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Recreation Center with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
George Percy, son of Percy and Elizabeth (Two Hearts) Cavanaugh was born on August 26, 1942 at Fort Totten, ND. He lived in the Fort Totten area until 1956 when the family moved to Devils Lake, ND. He attended school at Calvary Square in Fort Totten.
George worked a variety of jobs in the Devils Lake area and for Twin City Freight for many years. Most recently, George has made St. Michael his home.
George enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. But he treasured time spent with his family and friends the most.
George will be so very missed by all his dear friends and relatives.
He leaves behind his three children and thirteen grandchildren; daughter Vanessa (Mark) Cavanaugh and her children Marcus Curley, Jerrica Curley, Ariel Cavanaugh, Marissa Littleghost, Ashton Littleghost and Trinity Littleghost and daughter, Mary (James “Jumbo”) Cavanaugh and her children RaShawn, Porsha, Taylor, Cameron and Paris Thompson and son Percy “Box” Cavanaugh and his children Amber Lovejoy and Lance Cavanaugh; nine great grandchildren Miley, Marcus Jr., Martez, Jayce, Cassidy, Mason, Madison, Loren and Montel; brother Butch Cavanaugh; sisters Delores Yankton and Myra Quinn and many beloved nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
George was preceded in death by his parents; son Llewellyn Vaughn PoorBear; brothers Dominic, Tim, James and Robert “Hank” Cavanaugh and adopted brother Benny Cavanaugh.
Pallbearers for George will be Box Cavanaugh, Marcus Curley, RaShawn Thompson, Robbie Cavanaugh, Conrad Cavanaugh, Joseph “Joe Kool” Cavanaugh, Ed LaVallie and Willard Chaske Jr.
