Roger D. Herman

Roger Dale Herman began his earthly journey on March 13, 1947 and began his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Roger Dale, was the son of Eugene Roy and Clementine (Lohnes) Herman. Roger met Shirley Merrick and they married on March 22, 1976. Between them they have two boys, Roger Dale and Robert Daniel, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, who Roger was so proud of them and his grandchildren for what they have become. Roger was a loving and caring person and had many friends in Canada and the United States. He had a very tidy home and yard. Everything had to be in its right place. He had a garden that he looked after, everything he planted he would say “my babies will like eating this when it’s ready”. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He worked in his workshop where he built bird houses in the winter time. He also made Pow Wow drums and had the gift for making spiritual pipes and rattles. He had the heart for loving and caring for his family and relatives and will be greatly missed. We have lost someone so very special to us but we will keep him in our hearts forever. Roger is survived by his loving family. His wife of 43 years, Shirley Herman; sons Roger “Chum” (Crystal) Herman and Robert (Melanie) Herman; grandchildren Brenden, Ian, Noah, Chase, R.J., Lenna, Memory, Leyton, Ricky Ray and Destiny; great grandson Zayn; sisters Louella (Kevin) Herman and Phyllis (Philip) McKay and many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Alfred Herman and sisters Violet Fournier, Hattie Peltier and Lorraine “Tootsie” Charboneau. Casket Bearers will be Brandon Charboneau, Dallas Charboneau, Danny Charboneau, Randy Crist, Jerrod Desjarlais and John Desjarlais. Honorary Bearers are all of Roger’s Nieces and Nephews. A Wake for Roger will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Fort Totten Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday from the City Plaza.
