She grew up and attended grade school at West Banner School and graduated from Starkweather High School in 1951. After attended Minot State Teacher’s College, she earned a Standard Certificate of Teaching and taught in rural Starkweather for 3 years.
It was in Starkweather where she met and married Dennis L. Wentz on May 12, 1956. They were blessed with four children Arlin, Marlin, Denise and Darrin who they raised together on a farm in the Crary area, later moving into Crary and finally due to health reasons into Devils Lake.

She graduated from Minot State College in 1972, receiving certifications as a Teacher, Elementary Principal, her Reading Credential and her Counseling certificate, all of which she used during her 44 year teaching career.
Rosie was very active in her community and churches, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Crary and then St. Joseph Catholic Church of Devils Lake. She found joy in her interests in FCE (Ramsey County Family and Community Educators), Christian Mothers, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Crary Community Club, holding many offices and leadership positions over the years.
Rosie loved her family and nothing pleased her more than making sure everyone had their favorite homemade goodies when they came to visit. She would try out new recipes often, and was a wonderful cook and baker.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s events when she could, a game of pinochle and crocheting or embroidering the many afghans and towels she created for family and gifts over the years.
Rosie is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Dennis of Devils Lake; her sons Marlin (Vickie) of Breckenridge, MN, Darrin of Fargo, ND and daughter Denise (Kelly) Hanson of Stanley, ND; six grandchildren Christi Wentz, Tami Jo Wentz, Shanna (Jay) Muller, Josh Wentz, Wyatt Hanson and Rhett Hanson; two great grandchildren Landon and Grayden Muller; sisters Ilene Schemionek of Devils Lake and Flora McGarvey of Fargo; brother-in-law Donald (Vangie) Wentz of Bismarck; sisters-in-law Evelyn Nagel, Lake Havasu, AZ, Betty Wentz, Bismarck, Marge (Donald) Olson, Rugby, ND and Lucy Schnaebel, Lodi, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
