Cynthia Lynn, daughter of Gordon and Beth (Wyman) Berg was born on October 19, 1951 at Devils Lake, ND. She grew up on the family farm in Harding Township, rural Webster, ND. She attended elementary school at the one-room Cleveland #3 and also Prairie View Elementary in Devils Lake. She graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 1969. Cindy married Rodney Rohrer in 1969 at St. Olaf Church in Devils Lake and they were the proud parents of two precious daughters Heidi Jo and Tara Beth. Rodney served in the United States Navy and shortly after Heidi was born, the family lived in Japan where Rodney was stationed. They returned to Devils Lake in 1973 and later welcomed Tara to the family. Cindy worked at various jobs in the Lake Region, including for Judge Douglas Heen and she and Rodney owned and operated the Montgomery Wards Store until it closed. As a family, they hosted a foreign exchange student from Norway, Linn Solheimness, who was Cindy’s cousin. In 1985, as a strong advocate for higher education, attended Lake Region Junior College for 2 years, then continued at UND, Grand Forks receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She returned to Devils Lake and was employed at North Central Planning from 1992 to 1997. She then moved to East Grand Forks, MN where she lived until her death. Cindy was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, and was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was active in the WELCA and the many activities of the church. She also served on the Lake Region Skating Club Board for many years. Cindy was an excellent cook, baker and seamstress along with many other talents. She had a great interest in her heritage and spent many hours researching and documenting the Berg family history and lovingly presented a book to each family member. She loved music and her beautiful voice was heard in many choirs and also as a vocalist in family weddings and many other family events. We have lost someone so very special to us and so many others.
