Dennis D. Lommen, 79 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday evening, April 15, 2016 at his home in the loving care of his family and Altru Hospice. Dennis Duane, was born on April 27, 1936 at Hampden, ND the son of Anton and Anna (Youngman) Lommen. He attended Hampden Public School and graduated from Hampden High School. After graduating, he worked for many years at Lunde Implement in Hampden. One beautiful day in the mid 1950’s, Dennis met his precious Carol Lipp and they were united in marriage on September 3, 1960. They would live, share a wonderful life together and make Devils Lake their home. After moving to Devils Lake, Dennis worked for a time at the Devils Lake Police Department. On September 15, 1958. Dennis began dedicated service with the North Dakota National Guard at Camp Grafton. He worked mainly as a parts clerk and in automotive repair. Dennis was honorably discharged and retired on May 12, 1992 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Dennis never met a stranger, he loved to visit and always had a joke to tell. Dennis loved the outdoors and he was very meticulous about his yard and would always lend a helping hand to the neighborhood to keep the lawns mowed and the snow shoveled. He also took on the responsibility to keep the neighbors’ cats and dogs fed and cared for as the need would arise. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with friends and family and also enjoyed membership in the Devils Lake Elks Lodge. Dennis is survived by his wife, Carol; sisters Della Hamre, Devils Lake and Burnette Lindseth, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law Elaine (David) Hagel also of Devils Lake; many nieces and nephews survive including special nephews Darin Hamre and Bradley Lommen. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Myrtle Lokken and Inez Ordemann; brothers Rudolph Lommen, Emmet Lommen and Weldon Lommen.
