Betty J. (Nelson) Berg, 93, of Littleton, CO - formally of Devils Lake, ND passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Littleton, CO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with burial in the Trier Cemetery, Calio, ND by her husband Leonard Michels. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1 at the Gilbertson’s Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a scripture and Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Memorials may be given to Denver Dumb Friends League (www.ddfl.com). Betty Jane Nelson was born on July 9, 1922 in Dilworth, MN, daughter of George and Alma (Bjerken) Nelson. Betty attended and graduated from Moorhead State Campus School in 1940 and from Business College in Detroit Lakes, MN in 1941. She made her home in Moorhead and worked at the International Harvester Company in Fargo, ND. Betty was united in marriage to Leonard Schreder on June 24, 1943. They made their home in Havre, MT where she worked at Ryan Havre, Wholesale Food Distributor. Leonard passed away on January 28, 1960. Betty then moved back to Moorhead, MN and worked as an administrative assistant for a CPA. Betty was united in marriage to Leonard Michels on June 6, 1964. They made their home in Cando, ND until Leonard’s death on June 12, 1983. In addition to working in retail, Betty also operated a daycare center. Betty was united in marriage to Omar Berg on July 26, 1986. They made their home in Devils Lake, ND before relocating to Heartland Court in September of 2004. After Omar’s passing on July 21, 2008, Betty moved to Lakewood Estates Retirement Home in Littleton, CO. In October 2015 Betty moved into The Manor on Marston Lake Assisted Living. Betty enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and travel tours. The trip to Alaska was one of her favorite trips. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando, ND and was a member of its Altar Society and Christian Mothers organization. While living in Devils Lake she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society and St. Jude Circle. Betty is survived by her daughters, Sandra Legge and Connie Heisler, both of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Becky Biwer, Travis Heisler, Dawn Legge, and Shawn Legge; great-grandchildren Blake Biwer, Anastasia Heisler, and Nolan Legge; and great-great-grandchildren Aria Biwer and Owen Biwer. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sharon Anderson, granddaughter Jennifer Heisler, son-in-law Doug Legge, husbands Leonard Schreder, Leonard Michels, and Omar Berg, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
