Elizabeth “Betty” Dosch, 94 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Elizabeth was born on September 21, 1921 in Wells County, ND the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Fettig) Wolfe. She grew up on the family farm in the Fillmore area and attended the Baker Public School in Baker, ND. She helped her parents in all aspects of the farming and ranching business and also helping her mother with cleaning, cooking and caring for her siblings. Betty was united in marriage to Michael Dosch on February 7, 1944 at Esmond, ND. They made their home on a farm south of Fillmore until 1950 when they moved to Devils Lake. As owners and operators of the Great Northern Hotel Restaurant, Betty was waitress, cook and baker for many years. She also did house cleaning for many families in Devils Lake. But many, many children were blessed to have been in the care of Betty during her over 35 years operating a Day Care out of her home. She was “Grandma” to so many children and many of them still remember those wonderful days in Betty’s care, where she opened not only her home but her heart. There were always fresh homemade buns or chocolate chip cookies in Grandma Betty’s kitchen! At a very young age, Betty knew hard work and she continued to work hard to care for her husband and children. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She showed kindness and compassion to everyone she met, always asking what she could do to help them out. Betty was a fantastic cook and was quite famous for her “German Dishes”. She loved to play BINGO and she made time in her day to watch “The Price Is Right”. Everything stopped when the Minnesota Twins were playing so she could watch or listen to the game. In the earlier years, a person would be in awe watching Mike and Betty on the dance floor, dancing a Polka. They were invited several times to perform at the “Polka Party” in Valley City, ND. Betty loved to visit with family and friends and enjoy a “cold one”. Betty was an active member of St. Joseph Church and St. Jude’s Circle of the Altar Society. Mike died on October 27, 1993 and Betty continued to make Devils Lake her home until her death. It is difficult to say goodbye to our beloved Betty, but will hold memories of her life with us forever in our hearts.
