Constance R. "Connie" Black

Constance (Connie) Rae Black Constance R. “Connie” Black, 54 of St. Michael, ND made her journey to heaven on May 29, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, surrounded by her loving family and friends who loved her very much. Connie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Funeral Services for Connie will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Paul Schuster will officiate and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. The visitation for Connie will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Sunday June 5, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with the Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael’s Catholic Church will leave from the City Plaza Lot at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Serving as Casket Bearers for Connie will be Brandon Black Sr., Trestan Demarce, Perry Mudgett Jr., Lydell Jones, Samuel Merrick Jr., Val Merrick, Joe Cavanaugh, Claude Black and Allen Demarce. This has been an overwhelmingly sad time for our family and if we missed any of Connie’s dear friends and relative we apologize. God Bless you all. Connie was born on September 28, 1961 in Devils Lake, ND. The daughter of Charles Jr. and Mary Evelyn (Gourd) Black. Connie was reared and educated in St. Michael, ND attending the Little Flower School and also St. Mary’s and Warwick School. Connie worked at various places including Tribal Court, DTI, Sioux Manufacturing, Spirit Lake Casino Housekeeping until she was no longer able to work due to health reasons. Connie enjoyed joking around and laughing with family and friends. She loved spending time with her Grandkids as they always put a smile on her face. Connie had such a big heart she always took people in when they needed a place to stay. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. Our beautiful loving Mom, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt will be forever missed. Connie is survived by her children, Sheldon (Kaylene) Black, Brandon (Alyssia) Black and Joe (Cara) Cavanaugh; Special Grandchildren, Jeremiah and Michael Black; Grandchildren, Destiny, Felix, Sheldon Jr., Reginald, Tayshaun, Aiden, Brandon Jr., Adrina, Joe Jr., Kaeleigh, Carly, Byron and Claudette; brothers, Claude Black Sr. and Craig Black; sister, Sharron (Perry Sr.) Mudgett and Inez Chaske; aunts, Carol Black, Myrna Demarce, Tessie Brown, Joanne Smith, Ernestine Foot; uncles, Jim Baker, Darryl and Jimmy Smith; god-mother, Ramona Cannon; god-child, Perry Mudgett Jr.; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard, Charles III and Bennett; grandparents, Charles and Josephine Black Sr., Michael and Emma Gourd and Cordelia Little.
