Victor James Peoples, 68 of New Rockford, ND formerly of Devils Lake and Spirit Lake Nation passed from this life to the Spirit World on Monday morning, May 30, 2016 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.
Victor James was born on September 15, 1947, the son of Virginia (Guy) and Peter Peoples, Sr. Victor attended St. Michael’s Little Flower School and the Wahpeton Indian School. Victor lived with his mother in the Tokio area and took care of her until she passed away.
Victor sang and he was also a Grass Dancer in his younger days. He really loved spending time with his loving family and all of his many friends.
Victor is survived by his loving family. His sister Delores Mequire; grandchildren Rochelle Guy, Eldwin Guy, Denise Paul, Donovan Paul, Terrance Paul, Amber Gourd, Trudelle Leftbear, Diane Peoples, Jalen Peoples, Addison Peoples, Julia Peoples, Juliann Peoples, Julian Peoples and Julius Peoples; nieces Angie Feather, Tammy Greywater, Sherrie Guy, Jackie Redfox, Dana Guy and Elizabeth Guy; nephews Melvin (Lisa) Peoples, Ralph (Fran) Peoples and Donray Guy Jr.; special great grandson Brayden Leftbear.
He is welcomed home by his mother Virginia Guy Peoples; father Peter Peoples Sr.; brothers Wilfred, Raphael, Vincent, Melvin and Peter Jr. Peoples; grandsons Edison and Gideon Guy; cousins Ordelle Guy, Gerald Guy Sr. and Donray Guy Sr.; nieces Debbie and Anna Guy; nephews Terrance and Gerald Jr. Guy; aunties Alice (Waanatan) Guy, Virginia Vaulters, Angeline LaCroix and Mae Gourd Whiteman; paternal grandparents Wilfred Peoples and Mary Julia DanceEagle; maternal grandparents Frank Guy Sr. and Nancy DeWolfe Guy.
Pallbearers for Victor will be Eldwin Guy, Duane Guy, Elijah Feather, Melvin Peoples, Ralph Peoples and Waylon Smith.

The Wake for Victor will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Tokio Wellness Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Tokio will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday from the City Plaza Lot, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Victor will be on Tuesday, June 7th at 12:00 noon at the Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio with Reverend Larry Thiele officiating. Victor will be laid to rest in the Dakotah Oyate Cemetery. All Drum Groups are welcome to come and sing in memory of Victor.
