David M. Jabs, passed away the morning of Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND as the result of heart failure. David was 63 years old.
Funeral Services for David will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Free Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, ND with Reverend Lyle Belleque officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery with lunch to follow the services.
David Marvin, was born February 3, 1953 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND. He was the oldest son of Marvin D. and Carol M. (Scott) Jabs. David grew up on the family farm south of Fort Totten, ND.
David attended school at Oberon Public School. He attended college, attaining an Associate of Arts Degree at Lake Region Junior College.
Cooking was David’s life work and his passion. He began his cooking career in Devils Lake at the Country Kitchen. He moved to California and Colorado to continue his cooking career. For the past 16 years, David has been cooking at the Spirit Lake Casino in the Dakota Buffet. David was a very diligent employee. He always had a cheerful attitude and showed kindness to his co-workers. He was a very social person and would strike up a conversation with friend or stranger.
David loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed camping, hiking and spending time in the outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. David will be remembered as a good son, brother, friend, co-worker and employee. He will be truly missed.
David is survived by his mother, Carol Jabs; brothers and sisters-in-law Dwight and Patty Jabs all of Devils Lake and Reese and Theresa Jabs of Minneapolis, MN; nephews and great niece (Dwight’s children) Scott Jabs, Devils Lake and Matthew Jabs and his daughter Kassidy of Sioux Falls, SD and niece (Reese’s daughter) Holly Jabs of Minneapolis; aunts Jane Jabs, Devils Lake and Arlene McDougel, Everett, WA and many loving cousins.
David was preceded in death by his father, Marvin and his infant brother, Daniel Jabs.
