Cherelle Fawn SwiftHawk, (Turtle Girl) 31 of Pocatello, Idaho formerly of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the University of Utah Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah from injuries sustained in a car/pedestrian accident.
The Wake for Cherelle will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of the Resurrection for Cherelle will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Cherelle Fawn was born on September 27, 1984 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND. She was the daughter of Sharlene Rose IronHawk and was raised by Sharlene and Quentin Paul Yankton.
She attended the Dunseith Public School, Dunseith, ND and graduated from Dunseith High School. She continued her education at Upward Bound in Fargo, ND. Cherelle soon took to the road and has traveled throughout the United States. She was a very talented potter and sold her creations in the many cities she traveled too.
Cherelle loved to travel, but always called the Spirit Lake Nation home. She loved her family and kept in contact with them as much as she could. We will miss her and always keep her memory alive in our hearts.
Cherelle is survived by her mother, Sharlene Rose IronHawk; children Sean Alexander Chedester, Brooke Lynn IronHawk, Jamison James SwiftHawk, Brailynn Ann IronHawk, Samuel Andrew IronHawk and Jersey Lynn Poitra; sisters Prairie Rose SwiftHawk and Tenarrie Dawn SwiftHawk; brother Bennett Wade SwiftHawk; aunts Bessie Victoria Ironhawk, Darlys Ironhawk and Darcie Klate Ironhawk; uncles Roudie Wayne Ironhawk Sr., Jason Dean (Ranae) Ironhawk and family; grandmothers Elizabeth Lawrence and Pauline Greywater; grandfather Josie Lawrence; special family friend Donny Poitra and too many dear extended family and cousins to name.
She was preceded in death by her aunt Bernadine “Bernie” Littlewind; uncles Benedict Ironhawk Jr., Dwayne Ironhawk, Marvin Ironhawk, Myron Ironhawk and Roger Ironhawk and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Cherelle will be Rocky Littlewind, Alvin Brown Jr., Michael OneBear Jr., Michael IronHawk, Robert IronHawk, Ty IronHawk, Dawn IronHawk and Cheryl IronHawk. Special escorts Trajin OneBear and Marius Lawrence.
Honorary Bearers will be all the Elders of the Spirit Lake Tribe, Physicians and Staff at University of Utah Medical Center and all of Cherelle’s dear extended family and many friends.
