Margie B. Ross, (Lending A Hand Woman) 71 of Tokio, ND left to the Spirit World on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake surrounded by her loving grandchildren, family and friends. The Wake for Margie will be on Sunday, September 11, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Michael’s Tekakwitha Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. from the City Plaza Lot. Funeral Services for Margie will be on Monday, September 12th at 10:00 a.m. also at the Tekakwitha Center with Reverend Larry Thiele and Father Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in the Dakotah Oyate Cemetery, rural Tokio. Margie Betsy Ross, daughter of George and Christine (Stone) Ross was born on February 27, 1945 at Devils Lake, ND. She grew up in the Tokio area and attended school in Maddock and also the Warwick Public School. She graduated from high school with the class of 1965. Margie married Everett White Sr. in 1968 and they were the proud parents of their son, Everett White Jr. She worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation and also as a Nurses’ Aide at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake. She moved to Minneapolis where she lived, worked and raised her son through the years. In the early 2000’s, Margie returned to the Spirit Lake Nation and lived at the Elderly Center in Fort Totten. For the past year, she was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center. Margie loved spending time with her family and dear friends. She enjoyed their visits very much and hearing about the happenings in the lives of her son and grandchildren. She was a very talented seamstress and sewed many Star Quilts for family and friends. Margie is forever loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts. She is survived by her son, Everett White Jr. of South Dakota; grandchildren Steven, Tracy, Alice, Rachel, Oscar, Keyana and Anna and Kenyon who she loved as her own and a great grandson Jacoby; many nieces, nephews and other very dear family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Katie Two Hearts, Priscilla Touche, Eunice Green and Ruth Evelyn Green; brother John Ross and beloved nieces, nephews and other family members. Active Pallbearers for Margie are Marlin Thompson, Calvin Thompson, Robert Little Jr., Steven White, Tracy White, Tony Guy, Robert Green and “Mac” Green. Honorary Bearers are Cora Sherman Iceman, Rhonda Greywater, Marilyn Thompson and Family, Sherri and Jesse Cavanaugh, Lisa Littleghost, Virgil Herald, James Little and Family, Marilyn Gourd, Charlene Green and Family, Julie Herald, all the Elders of the Spirit Lake Tribe and the Staff and Residents of the Good Samaritan Center. We apologize if we forgot to name anybody. It was not intentional and we are sorry. All Drum Groups, Singers and other music are welcome to share their songs in memory of Margie.
