Robert D. BigTrack, 65 of South Lake, Ontario, Canada began his journey to the Spirit World on August 20, 2016 at his home in Canada.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten on Monday, September 12, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from the City Plaza Lot.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with burial in St. Jerome’s Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. Father Charles Leute OP will celebrate the Mass.
Robert David, son of Phillip and Mary Jane (Little) BigTrack was born on April 23, 1951 in Devils Lake. He grew up and was educated on the Spirit Lake Nation.
He worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing and in Moorhead, MN at several other jobs in the area. He moved to Canada in the mid 1990’s and lived, worked and made it his home through the years.
Robert loved attending Pow-Wows, sweats and any of the Native American ceremonies throughout the State and Canada. He was proud of his heritage and traditions and passed those qualities onto his family.
He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Robert leaves behind his loving family. His sister Patty Christionson; nieces and nephews Lea and Alfred Longie Jr., Lisa and Melvin Peoples Jr., Ervinetta and Kevin Killsplenty, Irvin Killsplenty Jr., Wesley and Geneva BigTrack, Thomas BigTrack, Lydell BigTrack and Emerson BigTrack Jr; grandchildren Anthony Littlewind, Silas Longie, Juneau Killsplenty, Jalen Peoples, Diane Peoples, Phillip Killsplenty, Winter BigTrack, Myalynn BigTrack, Carolyn BigTrack, Ashley BigTrack, Katherine BigTrack, Rani Howard, Cameron Howard, Faren Howard and Heather Stone; many great grandchildren; brother-in-law Irvin Killsplenty Sr.; all of his family in Canada and other special family Debbie Little and family, Cissy McKay and family and Josie McKay and family.
Those waiting to welcome him home include his parents; brothers Luke, Corbett, Donald, Frederick, Rudy, Allen, Herbert and Emerson Jr. BigTrack; sisters Bernice Killsplenty, Barbara BigTrack, Vyonne BigTrack and Annie L. BigTrack; granddaughters Mary BigTrack and Mary TwoHearts; grandson Wesley BigTrack Jr. and nieces Patricia BigTrack, Lynette BigTrack and Thomasine BigTrack.
