Rocky Bryor Littlewind, “Zuya Hoksina” (War Boy), 27 of Lakota, ND began his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, October 23, 2016. A Wake for Rocky will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Michael’s Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center with Father Paul Schuster officiating. Funeral Services for Rocky will be held at the River of Life-Assembly of God Church, Devils Lake on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Kevin Anderson officiating. Rocky will be laid to rest in the Crary Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Spirit Lake VFW Post #6547, Neathery-Simensen Post #756 and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Rocky was born on May 12, 1989 in Devils Lake, ND to Raybert Littlewind and Bernadine IronHawk. He was adopted by Kent and Valerie (Eback) Larson at the age of 5 and grew up in Crary, ND. He attended Minnie H Elementary School in Devils Lake for a couple of years, then attended Lakota Public School and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 2007. In school he was a drummer in the school band and also was a member of a couple other bands. Rocky enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was proud and honored to serve his country. He served stateside at Yuma, AZ then was in Afghanistan for two tours of duty and Iraq for one tour and also served for a time in Japan. His primary specialty was as a fixed wing aircraft mechanic. Rocky was honorably discharged on June 10, 2012 and was promoted to Sergeant on January 1, 2013. He was the recipient of several medals, campaign ribbons and certificates of commendation. After his discharge, he obtained his CDL and returned to North Dakota and worked for a time at Summer’s Manufacturing, O’Reilly Auto Parts and the Spirit Lake Casino. With his CDL, Rocky began driving truck for Schwann Oil Company, over-the-road with Elvick Trucking and at the time of his death he was employed with Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Devils Lake. Rocky was a member of the Spirit Lake VFW and the Devils Lake VFW. Rocky loved his family and treasured spending time with them. When he had some spare time, he loved BMX biking and was an avid target shooter. He also was a weapons collector. Rocky and Kylee loved their lives together. Rocky never missed a baseball game, dance recital, parent-teachers conference for Austen and Hannah. He was a genuine, kind, and was always there for all his family. No matter how little or big he was there to lend a helping hand where ever he could. He was always smiling and happy and his friends and family enjoyed being around him. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Rocky is survived by his loving extended family. His girlfriend Kylee Hilliard and her children Austen and Hannah Hilliard; his parents Raybert Littlewind Sr. and Val and Kent Larson; brothers Robert Littlewind, Raybert (Lexi) Littlewind Jr., Jamie Larson and Ryan Gietzen; sisters Tanya Rainbow, Jody Ranisate, Crystal (Tanner) Fox, Farrah (Nathan) Trottier and Kendrix Larson; nephews Isaiah Demarce, Christopher Dahlke, Jaylen Eback, Wamayanka Littlewind, Inyan Littlewind, Nathan Trottier Jr., Gabriel Trottier and Mason Fox; nieces Nakyta Pease, Kassady Dahlke, Alexis Dahlke, Erin Trottier, Makaila Trottier, Raena Littlewind and Anpao Littlewind; grandparents Elizabeth Lawrence and Josie Lawrence and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was welcomed home by his mother Bernadine IronHawk; grandparents Benedict IronHawk, John and Irene (Sherman) Littlewind, Jean Jetty-Mudgett and George Eback and his best friend Duke “The Woof Dog”. Honorary Bearers will be Chris Holtz, Jamie Larson, Devin Greywater, Tanner Nygaard, Chris Edland, Isaiah Demarce, Christopher Dahlke, Jaylen Eback, Nathan Trottier Jr., Ryan Gietzen, Ryan Johansen, special aunt, Bessie IronHawk, Fawnda and Scott Solwey, Lindsey OneBear and Pat Schmid, Tammy OneBear and Erik Longie Jr. and Michael OneBear Jr. and Julie. All Drum Groups and Singers are welcome to share their music in memory of Rocky. Memorials may directed to Kylee Hilliard and her children.
