Martha G. Larson, 98 of Devils Lake formerly of Hampden, ND passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Home, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Free Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Gary Fulsebakke officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, rural Hampden, ND.
Visitation on Friday, November 18th will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with the family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Martha was born on January 15, 1918 to Nils and Alma (Mathiason) Harveland at rural Hampden where she grew up and attended school.
On September 5, 1936 she married Melvin A. Larson in Langdon, ND. They lived and farmed in rural Hampden until retiring and moving to Devils Lake in 1983. Melvin passed away July 5, 2000. Martha continued living in Devils Lake. She moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Devils Lake in December of 2012.
Martha was an active member of Christ Free Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. On the farm she enjoyed gardening and in later years she crocheted and enjoyed doing many different arts and crafts.
Martha is survived by her precious family. Her daughter and son-in-law Eileen and Dennis Goldade, Minot; granddaughter Lori (Craig) Wass Scottsdale, AZ and grandson Darin Janzen, Havelock, NC; great grandson Cody Wass and great granddaughters Jessica Wass and Alexa Zunich and one great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; son Robert; parents Nils and Alma; six sisters Anna Johnson, Alida Johnson, Ruth Blackstad, Gladys Lommen, Oline Burkhart and Ruby Wiger; four brothers Iver, John, Norton Harveland, a brother in infancy and half sister Marie Lindgren.
The family encourages and prefers memorials to Storlie Cemetery at Hampden, ND, Christ Free Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, Good Samaritan Society in Devils Lake or to the charity of your choice.
