Michael J. TwoHearts Jr., 72 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Visitation and gathering of family and friends will be held at Seven Dolors Lutheran Church, Fort Totten on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. A Rosary and Prayer Service will be on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Tony McDonald officiating. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Charles Leute, OP celebrating the Mass. Michael will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Cemetery in the spring of 2017. Pallbearers for Michael will be Tony LaVallie, Ed LaVallie, Manuel Littlewind, Butch Cavanaugh, Sheldon Dogskin, Terrell Thomas, Raybert Littlewind and Stacy Feather Jr. Honorary Bearers are classmates of the Maddock High School graduating class of 1960 Robert McKay Sr., Demus McDonald, John Chaske Sr., Darlene Wadsworth, Ardis Shaw, Ida Mae Cavanaugh and the Staff of Eventide Heartland Care and Delores Yankton, Charlie Walker, Daniel DuBois, Carl McKay Sr. and Renita Shaw and Family. Michael Joseph TwoHearts Jr., son of Rachel (Smith) and Michael J. TwoHearts Sr. was born on New Years Eve, December 31, 1943 at Devils Lake, ND. He was raised in the Fort Totten area and graduated from Maddock High School with the class of 1960. He knew the importance of education and learning and later attended the Hanson’s Mechanical College and Lake Region Junior College. Michael worked for the potato industry in East Grand Forks, MN and lived and worked in Indiana for a time. After suffering permanent injuries, he was not able to work again and living independently became very challenging so in 1994, he moved to Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake. As a younger man, Michael enjoyed a game of horse shoes with friends and family and was a talented mechanic, working on cars whenever he could. He was often seen doing crossword puzzles in his spare time. Michael looked to his faith and his family to bring him strength in times of adversity. The love and support of his dear family brought him much joy. Michael is survived by his son Marlo TwoHearts; daughter Michelle TwoHearts; grandkids Mayline, Eugene, Daniel and Ulanda; great grandkids Makeisha, Tailisha, Marlaila, Marcahl, Eeron, Elahna, Kaliyah and Rainy Marla; brothers Francis, Julius, Bernard (Virginia) and Isaac TwoHearts; sisters Anne TwoHearts, Carolyn (Kermit) WalkingEagle, Patricia TwoHearts, Cathy (Mike) TwoHearts and Rebecca TwoHearts; aunt Cora Iceman and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael Sr. and Rachel; granddaughters Michelle and Mary TwoHearts; brothers John, Jerome Sr., Ronald, Timothy and Norman TwoHearts and a brother in infancy; sisters Julia R. TwoHearts and a sister in infancy; nieces and nephews Carrie TwoHearts, Theresa TwoHearts, Cheryl Feather, Richard Feather, Ila Feather, Jeremy TwoHearts, Francis TwoHearts Jr., David Johnson, Gerald TwoHearts and paternal grandparents Joseph and Margaret (McKay) TwoHearts and maternal grandmother Julia Smith.
