Jerome A. “Goobert” DeMarce Sr., 58 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
A Wake will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Fort Totten Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza.
Funeral Services for Jerome will be on Saturday, December 31st at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Wellness Center with Deacon Tony McDonald officiating. Jerome will be laid to rest at the Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. Military Honors will be accorded by the Spirit Lake VFW Post #6547.
Jerome Alexander DeMarce was born on December 29, 1957 in Ramsey County, North Dakota, the son of Alexander and Loretta (Jerome) DeMarce. He was educated at Four Winds School until his Junior year in high school. He then attended the Riverside Indian School in California where he graduated from high school in 1975.
After graduating, Jerome enlisted in the United States Army on October 26, 1975 and proudly served his country. He was stationed in Korea where he was injured. He received an honorable medical discharge and returned to the Spirit Lake Nation.
While living in Fort Totten, Jerome worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation and Dakota Tribal Industries. He decided to move the Bismarck where he lived and worked for several years. Jerome continued his education at the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton and received certification as an electrician in 1996. He then moved to Mandan, ND and worked there for several years.
Jerome was hired to work in the Finance Department with the Spirit Lake Tribal Housing, so he made the move back to Fort Totten. At the time of his death, Jerome was working in the Maintenance Department at Four Winds.
Jerome enjoyed fishing whenever he could and was always a loyal fan, who loved to watch Four Winds Basketball. More than ever he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. He loved his family with all his heart and he will be so missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerome is survived by his loving family. His dear friend and companion, Kim Knutson; his eight children and his fourteen grandchildren, son Jeremy (Brooke) DeMarce and children Isaiah and Zoey DeMarce, daughter Aerial (Kevin Byars) DeMarce and children Isis and Taylor Greywater, Michael Jr., Madison, Minxie and Michaela Marion, son Jerome (Naomi Lewis) DeMarce Jr. and children Lacey Ralston, Bentley Houska and Taig DeMarce, daughter Aja (Richard Lawrence) DeMarce and child Elias Rodriguez, daughters Alisha DeMarce, Alexa DeMarce and child Natalee DeMarce and Cheyenne (Doug) McCambridge and child Lexi McCambridge and son Anthony DeMarce; brothers and sisters Donna White Buffalo, Dave Longie, Tim DeMarce Sr., Francine (Leander “Russ”) McDonald and Lili DeMarce; special nieces and nephews Arvada, Lance, Kateri, Kristen and Conrad DeMarce, Chanoa Nestell; Tracy and Jeff White Buffalo, Sonya Walking Eagle; Loren Longie, William DeMarce, Tim DeMarce Jr., Lorinda and Cali DeMarce; Sonya Walking Eagle, Aerial DeMarce; Cody and Jamie Merrick.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Loretta; son Samuel DeMarce; grandson (son of Aja) Julian DeMarce, sisters Darlene DeMarce and Denise DeMarce and brothers Terry DeMarce and Conrad DeMarce.

Active Casket Bearers will be Tracy White Buffalo, Conrad DeMarce Jr., William DeMarce, Cody Merrick, Shane Moxness, Marshal “Eric” Longie, Marshal “Pete” Longie, Chris Nelson Jr. and Tim DeMarce Jr.
Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald Family and the Lake Region Singers Drum Group. Any and all Drum Groups and Singers are welcome to share their music in memory of Jerome.
