Edwin E. Kiviniemi, 78 of Devils Lake formerly of Lawton, ND passed away on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2016 at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home, Edmore, ND. Funeral Services for Edwin will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake with Reverend Don Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Edwin Ernest, son of William Matthew and Bertha (Hejlik) Kiviniemi was born on October 24, 1938 at Lawton, ND. Edwin was reared and educated in the Lawton area, attending the Lawton Public School. As a young man, he worked for his Grandpa Joe Hejlik farm. He later teamed up with his brothers Charles and Erwin and they were the owners and operators of Kiviniemi Brothers Painting Service, doing residential and commercial painting in the Lake Region area. In 1965, the family moved to Devils Lake and Edwin began employment with Hasse Plumbing and Heating, working there for many years until he retired. Edwin continued to make Devils Lake his home. He moved to the Edmore Memorial Rest Home when his declining health made it difficult for him to remain in his own home. Edwin will be greatly missed by his dear sisters, family and friends who knew and loved him. Edwin’s loving family include his sisters Marcy Sackenreuter and Delores Paech both of Devils Lake; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces. He was prededed in death by his dad, William; mother Bertha Kiviniemi Donahue; step dad Harry Donahue and brothers Charles and Erwin. Casket Bearers will be Terry Tronvet, Bruce Berg, Angie DeWall, Annette Thompson, Bill Sackenreuter and Kevin Sackenreuter. Reading the Scriptures will be Skylar Thompson and music will be provided by Peter A. Hager and JoDee Lagein.
