Claudette “Digger” Degenstein, 61, of Devils Lake, ND, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8th, 2017, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. Claudette was born on July 15, 1955 in Harvey, ND to the late Patricia and Virgil Degenstein. She was raised in Devils Lake, ND, where she attended school until her graduation from Devils Lake Central High in 1973. She lived and worked, most of her adult life in Mesa, Arizona, returning to Devils Lake in 2013. She loved golfing, trips to Vegas, poolside fun, the Diamondbacks baseball team, cooking shows and collecting Precious Moments. Most of all, she loved her friends and family. She is survived by her loving best friend and caregiver, Tracy Hermann; sister, Cheryl Peterson (Al Rodlin) of Devils Lake; brother, Corey Degenstein (Eula) of Gilbert, AZ; beloved nephew, Jason Degenstein of Devils Lake and great-nephew, Jaxson Degenstein. Claudette was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles, and her beloved cat, Screamer. Friends and family will always remember her beautiful smile, her infectious laughter and her loving and joyful spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2017, at 3pm at Pop’s Bar on the corner of US Highway 2 and 10th Avenue S.E., Devils Lake, ND.
