Craig Scott Black March 3, 1964 – January 7, 2017 Craig S. Black, 52 of St. Michael, ND made his journey to heaven on January 7, 2017 at his home in St. Michael, ND. Craig was a loving father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 16, 2017 at 10:00a.m. at Saint Michael’s Wellness Center, St. Michael, ND with Father Paul Schuster officiating and burial will be in Saint Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring. The wake for Craig will be held at the St. Michael Wellness Center on Sunday beginning at 3:00 p.m. with the Rosary and Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael Wellness Center will leave from the City Plaza parking lot at 2:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers for Craig will be Curtis Black, Jerry Cook, Wesley Jackson, Raymond Cavanaugh, Sam Merrick Jr., Dustin Black, Trestan Demarce, Duane Jackson Jr., Brandon Black, Perry Mudgett Jr., Wylie Redwind. Honorary Bearers will be all of Craig’s many family and friends, Spirit Lake Casino co-workers, Fort Totten Police Department co-workers and Spirit Lake Ambulance. Craig was born on March 3, 1963 in Devils Lake, ND. The son of Charles Jr. and Mary Evelyn (Gourd) Black. He grew up in St. Michael and graduated from the Little Flower School in St. Michael. He attended Warwick High School and received his GED from the Jamestown Career and Technical Center. Craig moved to Jamestown, ND in 1983 with his wife Kari and children Sarah and Craig Jr. While living in Jamestown Craig worked for Community Action weatherization and Newman sign company. Craig moved home in in 1989. In 1994 Craig completed police officer training in Bismarck, ND and he worked as a police officer for the Fort Totten Police Department from 1993 to 2006. From 2007 to 2009 Craig worked as a Gaming Investigator for the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort. In 2009 Craig was hired as the SORNA director for the Spirit Lake Tribe and he worked there until 2012. Most recently Craig worked as a security guard at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort. Craig enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His warm and gentle smile will be forever missed by his family. Craig is survived by his children, Sarah, Craig Jr. and Heaven; grandchildren, Abigail, Isabell, Matthew, Haley and Avory; brothers, Claude Black Sr. and William Black Sr.; sister, Sharon (Perry) Black-Mudgett; aunt, Carol Black; uncles, Jim Baker and Pierre Culbertson; nieces, Nicole (Trestan) Demarce, Penny (Matt) Friesen, Iris, Ivory and Kyla Black, DaNae, Rabecca and Hailey Black, Terri, Whitney, Tasha and Danica Black; nephews, Brandon Black; Joe Cavanaugh, J.R. Black, Rick Black Jr., Cameron Black, Dennis Chaske, William Black Jr., Dalton Black, Alex Leben, P.J. Mudgett, and Nevada Littlewind; god-child, Danica Black; many cousins and friends also survive.
