Vicki Elizabeth Gellner-Hammond

Vicki E. Gellner-Hammond, 60 of Devils Lake formerly of Langdon, ND died on Friday, February 10, 2017 at her home in the loving care of her children, friends and Altru Hospice. Vicki Elizabeth, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Hall) Gellner was born on July 25, 1956 at Langdon, ND.  She grew up on the family farm and attended Langdon Public School.  She graduated from Langdon High School with the class of “1975”.  She participated in extracurricular activities in school and was a sports cheerleader.  She lived and worked in Langdon until the early 1980’s when she moved to Devils Lake.  She attended Lake Region State College and was enrolled in the nursing program. After moving to Devils Lake, she ran a day care out of her home for several years.  She was a longtime employee of the Grand Forks Herald and Minot Daily News until health problems forced her to retire.  She volunteered with the SAAF Program for several years. Vicki was a very talented artist and used several mediums including acrylics, oils and chalks.  She loved animals of any kind.  Growing up on the farm, she always had horses and they were her first love, but soon cats and dogs began to tug at her heart. She always had room for a dog, or two or three.  But the most important loves of her life were her children and grandchildren.  They were her pride and joy and she treasured every moment, every activity, every get together with her family. We will miss Vicki with all our heart and treasure our memories of her forever. Vicki is survived by her children Jesse (Chasity) Everson, Devils Lake, Chad (Candra) Everson, Grand Forks and Ali (Justin Smith) Hammond also of Devils Lake; grandchildren Kirstyn, Halle, Vaya and Caden, Chasen and Chandler; brother Brent (Vicki) Gellner of Fountain Hills, AZ; special friend and loving care giver Jim Feldt, Devils Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Funeral Services for Vicki will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm officiating. Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, February 15th from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and will continue at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral service
