Celestine Arlene Brown, “Sally”, “Śaśtena” (Little Finger).   Celestine Arlene, daughter of the late Stephan A. Brown Sr. and Clara Nanapush was born on November 19, 1964 at Devils Lake Mercy Hospital. In her younger years, Sally worked for Sioux Manufacturing and after a few years passed, she found a job that she really enjoyed. Her most talented cooking skills and all the delicious meals she prepared, some from her secret recipes that she used.  She started working at Four Winds Public School as a cook for 20 years. Sally retired from Four Winds due to chronic illness.  Sally then moved to Minneapolis, MN to be closer to medical care.  She has resided in Minneapolis for the past 3 years, with ongoing medical attention until her passing on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at North Memorial Health Care Center.  She was 52 years old. Celestine was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. She also enjoyed watching “Little House on the Prairie”, “Law and Order” and the cooking channels. She liked playing pool and loved listening to John Lennon and Prince.  She never missed an opportunity to make fry bread for her dear friends. Celestine is survived by and will be greatly missed by her baby girl, LaCosta Brown, Minneapolis, son Clarence Brown, grandson, Toni Joe Starr all of Devils Lake, son Derrick Brown, Minneapolis, daughter Clarice Brown (Danica Yankton), Fort Totten, daughter Michelle SpottedHorse, granddaughter Emery Rose SpottedHorse all of Minneapolis and son Philip Emery SpottedHorse IIII, Minneapolis, adopted son and grandson Marcus Littleghost. Other surviving family members include sisters Lenore WhiteLightning, Larina (Cookie) Bugg, Stephanie Ramōn, Jacqueline Peltier, Twyla Feather, Gwendolyn Brown, Darlys Longie and Vernetta Kingbird; brothers Stephan A. Brown Jr., Gawlen Brown Sr. and James E. Brown; uncle Francis Brown and many nieces and nephews.  Celestine was preceded in death by her father Stephan Brown Sr.; loving spouse Philip Emery SpottedHorse III; brother Robert Brown; sisters Carole Jean Brown, Carlene Pearl Brown, Esther Ann Brown and Carol Rena Brown; aunts Mary Lou Diaz, Irene Yankton and Georgeline BlackHawk; niece Leonnae Joyce Brown; nephews Jacob Evan Brown, Thomas “Jasper” Short and Roberto “Beto” Ramōn; grandparents James Edward Brown I and Agnes Littlewind. Active Casket Bearers will be Shane Moxness, Ambrose “Beats” Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, Mark Littleghost, Kelly Brown, Davey Davidson, Rick Smith and Dana Yankton. Honorary Pallbearers are Melody Christianson, Joy Davidson, Vanessa Cavanaugh, Perry Kopp, Stubby McKay, John and Ramona Chaske, Colton Feather, Daylin St. Pierre, Bentley and Melissa Greybear, Annabelle Demarce, Louis BlackLance, Karen Bingham, Pat Walking Eagle, Renae and Gaylord Peltier, Shawn Trottier, Charlie Morin, Diana Lewis, Phadra Jackson, Chuck Longie, Chuck Trottier, Lila Anderson, Roger Yankton, Greg Demarrias, Jay Demarrias, Gary Demarrias, Sam Merrick, Merdell RedFox, Melvine Rieierson, Kimberly and Daryl ThreeIrons and family, Terrance Jack “Oboshi” Bugg and Vernon Kingbird, Aunt Lorraine Greybear, Anthony Brown, Linette Smith and Wendy Mock.  A special thanks to the Doctors and Staff at North Memorial Health Care Center, the “People Serving People” Shelter in Minneapolis, the Spirit Lake Tribe of Fort Totten, Four Winds Public School Staff and Students, to Tony and Vina McDonald, Rhythm Riders, Kris White and Darwin ThreeIrons for their songs.  If we have forgotten to mention anyone, please forgive us in our time of sorrow, it was not intentional.  In Appreciation; On behalf of the family, we wish to express our gratitude for your many kindnesses evidenced in thought and deed, and for your attendance at these services. The Wake will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Fort Totten Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Time of Remembrance at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass.  Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Cemetery in the spring of 2017.
