Leo H. Weber, 90 of Devils Lake formerly of the Calio, ND area passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Leo Hubert was born on January 26, 1927 in Seivert Township, rural Calio, ND, one of 11 children born to John and Margaret (Lehnen) Weber. He was raised and educated in the Calio area, attended Seivert Township Country School and later farmed and raised his family there through the years. Leo served with the US Army from February 1946 to July 1947 when he was honorably discharged. His rank in the Army was Technician 5th grade and served in Germany with the 397 Military Police Battalion at the end of World War II from April 1946 until May 1947. He earned the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After serving in the Army, he returned to Calio and went into farming and farmed until he retired. After he retired he enjoyed going back up to the farm with brother, Mathie to check on the farm and doing projects which included restoring the John Deere “B” tractor their father bought in 1943. After restoring the “B” they enlisted the help of Kevin Mueller to paint the tractor. Leo enjoyed driving up to the farm to look around at the fields, playing pinochle and spent hours playing solitaire. He married Mary Ann Fah in November 1950 and had four children, son Lawrence “Larry”, daughter Linda, son Allan, and daughter Lisa. Leo was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Calio until it closed and then joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Munich, ND. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Eagles, VFW and served on the Seivert Township Board. Leo is survived by his son Lawrence (Patsy) Weber, Cando, daughter Linda (Denny) Heit, Valley City, son Allan Weber, Devils Lake and daughter Lisa (Clyde) Myers, Alsen; grandchildren Lyle Weber, Lori (Jayson) Menke, Lynn (TJ) Evenson, Leann (Paul) Mellum, Jason (Christine) Heit, Shannon (Mark) Oehlke, Sandi (Shane) Thompson, Steven Weber, Kendall Myers, Karlee Myers and Brett Myers; step grandchild Shaina Bell; great grandchildren Riley and Parker Menke, Ryker Evenson, Abe Mellum, Luke Heit, Megan and Emily Oehlke, Austin Weber, Brayden Thompson; step great grandchildren Tyler Evenson and Xaylee Bell; brother Edmund Weber and many nephews and nieces. Leo is preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret; brothers Paul, Math and George Weber; sisters Dora Vance, Ella Mueller, Leona Nelson, Mariann Holien, Christine Cottros and Lena Dibble. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, rural Calio in the spring. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3rd at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. led by Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon. The Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
