Rory J. Ross, Sr. 44 of the Spirit Lake Nation, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at CHI, St. Alexius, Devils Lake Hospital. A Wake for Rory will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the St. Michael Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday from City Plaza. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Wellness Center with Deacon Tony McDonald officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Rory Jason was born on September 20, 1972 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Solomon and Claudette (Jackson) Ross. He spent his life on the Spirit Lake Nation. He attended Warwick Public School and was a member of the 1989 State Basketball Team along with his teammate and brother Wade. He graduated from Four Winds High School with the class of 1991. He began his career at the Tokio Casino and then worked at the new Spirit Lake Casino for over 10 years. It was a job he loved, spending time with family and friends and especially time with his Mom. Due to increasing health problems he was forced to retire. Rory also loved tinkering with cars and trucks, keeping them in good running condition. Spending time with his grandchildren was very special to Rory. Rory Jason Ross Sr., always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. Rory leaves behind his mother Claudette Ross; sister Ashley Ross Feather; brother Lance Mahto Ross; adopted brothers Donovan Lambert, Tyrel Alberts and Brian Thunder; daughters Leanna Ross, Claudia Ross, Lachelle Ross, Krista Ross and Alice Wadsworth; sons Rory Ross Jr., Cameron Ross and Lance Wadsworth; grandchildren Cataleya Ross, Nautica Griffin, Landyn Ross, Layla Ross, Kassandra Ksiazkiewicz, Richard Ksiazkiewicz and Shambree Jetty; nieces and nephews Sierrah, Heaven, Rachel, Richard and Tiffany, Shayna, Jared, Chantel and Wyatt; aunts Doris Longie, Diane Jackson, Anita Bear, Esther IronHawk, Sonya Knots, Belinda Longie, Barb “Bubbles” Jackson, Debra Jackson, Antionette “Swadeau” Halsey and Paula Goulet; uncles Burton “Joe” Jackson, Alvin Bear and Joseph “Butch” Goulet. Rory was preceded in death by his father Buddy Ross; grandparents Ignatius and Sadie (Smith) Jackson Sr. and Henry and Margaret Bear; brothers Russ, Klae and Wade Ross; brother-in-law Richard Feather; uncles Buck Jones, James Bear, Mike Bear, Buzzy Jackson, Adrian Jackson and Ignatius Jackson Jr. Active Pallbearers will be Donovan Lambert, Tyrel Alberts, Lance Mahto Ross, Pernell Jackson Sr., Alvin Bear and Wyatt Ross. Music will be provided by the Lake Region Singers, Rhythm Riders and Tony and Vina McDonald. All Drummers and Singers are welcome to share their music in memory of Rory.
