John G. Feldner, 85 of Starkweather, North Dakota passed away on Tuesday evening, February 28, 2017 at the Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. John Gaylord was born on December 2, 1931 at Kenmare, North Dakota to Harold and Alma (Nordstrom) Feldner. He was raised in the Donnybrook area and began attending the Donnybrook Public School. The family moved to a farm in the Munich, ND area and John worked beside his parents on the farm and attended Munich Public School whenever he could. John was united in marriage to Jeanette Thompson on September 14, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Starkweather. They established their home on a farm in the Starkweather area and then in 1957 they moved to the farm at St. Joe and would call it home the rest of their lives. They worked side by side and raised their family there through the years. For the past 3 ½ years, John has resided in care centers in Aneta, New Rockford and Devils Lake, but the farm was always home. John was a member of Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, faithfully served on the church council and also served on the St. Joe and later the Lake Region Grain Elevator Boards for many years and was instrumental in the building of the new Lake Region Grain terminal. In his younger years, John enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. John enjoyed working on machinery and doing whatever it took to keep everything going through each season. John’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his wife of 61 years Jeanette; son Kenneth J. and his wife Karen Feldner of Starkweather and daughter Stephanie Feldner of Abilene, TX; grandchildren Travis Feldner, Devils Lake and Kristi Feldner, Minot, Cynthia (Kyle) Moore, Angel Fire, NM, Jill (Kory) Ramsey, Rotan, TX and Cole Krebsbach, Montana; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Donald (Mary) Feldner, Starkweather and Herbert Feldner, Munich; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Alfred and Teresa Thompson. Honorary Bearers will be all of John’s grandchildren. Funeral Services for John will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Robert Buechler, Pastor of Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity-Bergen Cemetery, rural Starkweather in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
