Palmer “Paul” M. Walden, 95 of Devils Lake, ND died on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Paul will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Palmer Martin Walden was born on March 25, 1921 at Fordville, North Dakota, the son of Ole and Marie (Holland) Walden. At a young age, the family moved to Grand Forks and Palmer attended school there. Paul entered the work force at a young age. He began working for the Congress Candy Company and later Central Lumber Company. He was never idle and worked for area farmers as they needed him. When living in Fargo, Paul was employed with Nash Finch Company for several years. Paul and Barbara made the decision to move to Reno, Nevada and would work for the Sparks Convention Authority until he retired in 1986. Paul married Barbara Maier Knaus in September of 1978 but they shared a life of love, laughter and sometimes tears for over 53 years. Since 1989, Paul and Barb have called Devils Lake home where they have enjoyed the company and fellowship of family and friends through the years. They shared a delightful sense of humor between them and the banter and teasing brought joy to all those who shared time with them. Paul is survived by his wife Barb; step children Judy and her husband Pat Doty, San Antonio, Texas and Paul Carl Knaus also of Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephew and nieces Gary (Lorri) Walden, Gail Ritterman, Faye Beaudoin, Grace Saturen, Del Johnson, Deb (John) Carlson and Pamela (Lee) Ness. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin Walden.
