Laurence C. Dykhoff, 80 of Devils Lake formerly of Minot, ND died on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Laurence will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate. Graveside Services will be held at the Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Pallbearers will be Travis Mowbray, Brandon Domino, Rick Dykhoff, Joe Dykhoff, Troy Ives, Chad Perdue, Travis Perdue and Corey McGillis Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Laurence’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and all of his many friends. Music will be provided by Kelsey Pankratz and Jessica Mowbray, Soloists and John Martinson, Pianist Laurence Constant Dykhoff was born on July 2, 1924 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake the son of Frank and Paulina (Van Steenvoort) Dykhoff. He attended school in Crary and Bartlett, ND and attended high school in Lakota. Laurence enlisted in the United States Navy on December 26, 1943 and served his country during World War II. He served on the USS Thetis Bay in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was Honorably Discharged on April 6, 1946 at Bremerton, Washington with the rank of Coxswain. He returned to his parent’s farm at Bartlett. On October 28, 1946 Laurence was united in marriage to Beverly Joyce Barron at Lakota. They established their home in Bartlett and Laurence began his career in the signal department of the Great Northern Railroad. In 1966, they moved to Minot, ND where he continued to work with the railroad and retired in 1988 from the Burlington Northern Railroad where he had worked as a Signal Inspector. Beverly died on August 2, 1983. Laurence continued to make his home in Minot and on May 10, 1991 he married Bonny Lou (Kunkel) Hoime in Minot. They lived in Minot until October of 2002 when they moved to Devils Lake. Laurence was a life member of the Minot VFW Post #753, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge all of Minot. He was also a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Laurence loved tending his garden and woodworking. He had a large family and was very proud of all of his children, step-children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all. Laurence is survived by his wife, Bonny Lou of Devils Lake Children: Robert (Kathy) Dykhoff, Eagan, MN Richard (Linda) Dykhoff, Blaine, MN Leslie (Bill) Mowbray, Bill (Marla) Dykhoff, Tracy (Jim Kraus) Miller, all of Minot Joni (Jeff) Domino, Auburn, Nebraska Step Children: Dixie (Larry) McGillis, Portland, ND Vicki (Don) Logan, Devils Lake Bryce (Kristy) Hoime, Edmore Lori (Kerwin) Pankratz, Grand Forks Twenty-One Grandchildren Fourteen Great Grandchildren Brothers: Louis Dykhoff, North Edwards, California Lyle Dykhoff, Devils Lake Sisters: Isabel Rafferty, Great Falls, MT Esther Falk, Groten, South Dakota Theresa (Jerry) Woolsey, also Great Falls Carol (Dave) Coyer, Robert, Wisconsin Julie (Melvin) Kunkel, Devils Lake Doris (Donald) Mueller, also Devils Lake Many Nieces and Nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; brother, Carl Dykhoff
