Paul E. Winnegge, 57 of Devils Lake died on Sunday afternoon at his home in the loving care of his family and Mercy Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial for Paul will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Robert Pecotte will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Cando, ND in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m. led by Fr. Dale Kinzler. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Paul will be Chad Tollefson, Rudolph Tollefson Jr., Jack Rader, Otto Rader Jr., Steven Bachmeier, Dustin Severinson and Jason Lindenberg. Reading the Scriptures will be Lisa Bachmeier and Ronald Volk. Gift Bearers will be: Paul Winnegge Jr, Kimberly Winnegge, Tammy Czapiewski, Peter Czapiewski, and Dylan Czapiewski Paul E. Winnegge, son of Paul and Evelyn (Smith) Winnegge was born on March 14, 1950 in Cando, ND where he was reared and educated. Paul spent most of his working career as a truck driver. He drove for several different trucking companies and construction companies in the Lake Region area. For the past twelve years, Paul worked for Swansons Gravel of Devils Lake. Paul was united in marriage to Alice Bachmeier on September 23, 1971 in St. Michael, ND. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and loved any activity that took him out into nature, including boating, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. Some indoor activities that Paul enjoyed were playing cards and a trip to the casino was always a fun time. But weather indoors or outdoors, Paul loved spending time with his family and friends and especially “Grandpa’s boy”, his grandson, Dylan. Paul was so proud of his children and felt truly blessed to have such a loving and caring wife and family. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched in such a special way. Paul is survived by his wife, Alice Triplets, Paul Winnegge Jr. of Devils Lake Tammy Czapiewski and her husband, Peter of Bismarck Kimberly Winnegge of Fargo Grandson: Dylan Czapiewski Sisters: Dorothy Slaubaugh and her husband, Ronald of Wolford, ND Donna Miller and her husband, Daniel of Hillsboro, ND Brother: David Winnegge of Jamestown, ND Many Nieces, Nephews and their families also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Evelyn, and brothers, Donald and Kenneth Winnegge.
