Thea C. Puhler, 103 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Milton, ND died on Monday afternoon, April 4, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Thea will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Marvin Winstryg will officiate and burial will be in the Brinsmade Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, April 7, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Visitation at the church will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Pallbearers will be: Marla Colton, Jeff Colton, Catherine Paulson, Gary Paulson, Robert Rollings and E.J. “Sonny” Hinderscheit.
Thea C. Vennes was born on October 24, 1901 to Louis and Randena (Holseth) Vennes at Minnewaukan, ND where she was also reared and educated. She graduated from Valley City State Teacher’s College and then taught for eight years. On June 2, 1928, Thea was united in marriage to William C. Puhler at Minnewaukan. They established their home in Brinsmade and later in Milton, ND. In 1955 they moved to Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. Mr. Puhler died on November 12, 1968. Thea continued to make her home in Devils Lake.
Thea was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, the L.A.P.M., Pioneer Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary and the Degree of Honor Society. She also did volunteer work at the Welcome Center since it first opened and as a member of the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) she volunteered her time at the Senior Center and both local nursing homes. Thea stayed very active in the church and community well into her 90’s. She saw many changes in this world in her lifetime. She treasured each day she was able to spend with her family and friends. May Thea rest in peace.
