Mary Louise Thompson, “Canta Wasté Winyan” (Good Hearted Woman), 81 of rural St. Michael, ND died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at her home. A Wake for Mary Louise will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Monday, March 10th beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Monday at 4:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Louise will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Serving as Casket Bearers for Mary Louise will be Arthur Brown Jr., James Little, Robert Little Sr., Everett Thompson, Jesse Cavanaugh Jr., Sam Merrick, Todd White, Ronnie McKay, Kelly Brown and Russell Littleghost Jr., Honorary Bearers will be the Elders of the Spirit Lake Tribe and special friends, Doreen Johnson, Tiffany Foss and Ann White. Mary Louise, the daughter of George and Eva (Little) Brown was born on March 30, 1926 at Fort Totten where she was raised and educated. She was united in marriage to Ambrose Thompson on December 11, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They established their home in the St. Michael area where together they lived, worked and raised their family for over 50 years. Mary Louise worked for the Spirit Lake Tribe for over 20 years in various jobs. She was the Director at the Family Development Center for a number of years, worked at Sioux Manufacturing, was part of the Elderly Program and most recently with the Senior Green Thumb Program. Mary Louise had also worked at the Belisle Store in her younger years. Mary Louise enjoyed doing cross word puzzles and playing Yahtzee. But she truly enjoyed playing Bingo, not only for the entertainment but especially as a time to visit with friends and family. Mary Louise’s love and devotion to her family was an example to us all. She was deeply loved and will be so very missed. Mary Louise is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ambrose Daughters: Marilyn (Sam) Thompson, St. Michael Donna (Dewayne) Youngman, Poplar, Montana Sharon (Jesse) Thompson Cindy Littleghost both of St. Michael Paula (Desi) Wacanta of Sioux Valley, Manitoba, Canada Adopted Daughter: Sheila Thompson, St. Michael Son: Calvin (Tina) Thompson, St. Michael Adopted Sons: Alfred (Nita) Thompson, Eagle Butte, South Dakota Joe Tiona, South Dakota Robert Hapa, Sioux Valley Todd White, St. Michael Aloysius Cloud, St. Michael Many Grandchildren and Many Great Grandchildren Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kenneth Thompson, Robert Thompson and Everett White; daughters, Linda Thompson, LaVerne Marks and Josella Crow; granddaughters, Jenny Thompson, Michelle Littlewind and Mary Littlewind; brothers, Mathias, Hubert and Arthur Brown and Paul Little; sisters, Angeline McKay, Gloria Brown and Alma Little.
