Donald W. Lee, 75, of Devils Lake, ND died on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake with his family at his side. Funeral Services for Don will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Don will be his grandsons, Darin Lee, Jonathan Erickstad, Joshua Knutson, Lee Myklebust, Ryan Thomas, Jason Schuler, Bradley Pederson, Trevor Knutson and Cody Schuler. Music will be provided by Kevin Regan, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist. Donald Wayne Lee, the son of Victor and Olga (Erickson) Lee was born on July 26, 1931 in Griggs County, rural Binford, ND. He attended elementary school in Garske and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1950. He was an outstanding athlete in high school, excelling in basketball and football. Don was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Hall on July 4, 1950 on the Frith farm, rural Devils Lake. They established their home on the farm at rural Garske, then moved to Devils Lake in 1984. Don continued to be active in the farming operation until retiring in 1992. Don was a former member of the Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church and served on the church council. After moving to Devils Lake he was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and also served on the council. Don served on the Garske Elevator Board, Ramsey County Water and Utility Board and the Hammer Township Board. He was very active in the Devils Lake Elks Lodge and Lake Region Curling Club. Farming and family are two words that truly defined Don. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family. Some of Don’s favorite leisure activities were boating, water skiing and horse back riding. He loved sports and when he no longer was able to be a player, he loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their many activities. He was their greatest fan and cheerleader. Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bev Children: Sharlo (John) Myklebust, Starkweather Doug (Susan) Lee also of Starkweather Vickie (Dan) Erickstad, Webster Sonia (John) Grabar, Bismarck Lori (Dean) Knutson of Maddock Robin (Jim) Hariper, Bismarck David (Tammy) Lee, Devils Lake Diane (Mike) Schuler, Grand Forks Twenty One Grandchildren Nineteen Great Grandchildren Sister: Caryl (Vern) Loehr of Devils Lake Brother: Jim (Linda) Lee of Scobey, Montana Sisters-In-Law: Judy Lee of Devils Lake Kay Lee of California Brother-In-Law: Keith (Janice) Hall of Fort Walton Beach, Florida Sister-In-Law: Arlo (John) Nyland of Devils Lake. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Newton and Sherman Lee; infant twin sisters, Edith and Marie and a grandson, Kyle Thomas.
